Happy New President Time -- When I was 9-years-old, I wanted to be President when I grew up, and Obama gives me hope that maybe might pipe dream is a possibility for someone like me.
Breaking Through the History Comic Books -- At Emerald City ComicCon a month ago, one of the most thoughtful questions asked was by a woman at the DC Nation Panel who wanted to know what comics she could start reading without having to know the background of every single character, team, and storyline since the 1940s. Personal Accountability Starts with Education -- I'm a news junkie. Okay, I'm an NPR-listening and blog-reading junkie. I've been listening and reading many different commentaries on the collapsing financial structure. I probably shouldn't be. I think it's adversely affecting my mood.
Before there was CSI: Alan Moore's From Hell -- Eddie Campbells' dark pencils and ink illustrations bring the horror of this tale to life. It's certainly graphic — both with sex and with the murders themselves — but Campbell's lines keep the graphic nature a little tamer than it might've been. Especially if they'd chose to do From Hell in color.
